Mission Astrophone is an outdoor Escape Game located in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Unlike traditional escape games, where players are locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to escape, Mission Astrophone asks you to search for former telephone booths scattered around the city. The game challenges participants to solve riddles and puzzles using teamwork and problem-solving skills. The ultimate goal is to find the spatial coordinates of an asteroid to save the city. A unique way to discover Neuchâtel!

Challenge

How do you design marketing materials that effectively communicate the intriguing and stimulating nature of an adventure game? And do it in a visually appealing way that engage the right audience?

Solution

The road was paved for a retrofuturistic graphic project. Here we can even talk about astrofuturism. A universe well known to gamers and very much in vogue at the moment. The retrofuturism trend is about looking at the future through the prism of the past. It is characterised by a mixture of imagery inspired by the vision of the future and progress as it has been imagined in the past. In astrofuturism, the idea is to transpose the concept of retrofuturism into a cosmic visual universe borrowed from the conquest of space. Combining futuristic technology and themes with old-fashioned design, retrofuturism explores the conflicting visual aesthetics of both the past and the future – resulting in a very interesting design trend indeed. One of the reasons why the use of nostalgia works so well for design is because of its strong effect on our mental wellbeing. Studies have found that nostalgia leads to a stronger sense of belonging and purpose, and can relieve the feelings of uncertainty that the future brings.
